Detlev Glanert

Detlev Glanert composed Gesang des Achill for baritone solo in 2006, basing on Heinrich von Kleist’s Penthesilea. It consists of three sections describing the falling in love of Achill, the battle of Achill, and the death of Achill. I consider this work a voyage in the mind of the main character always living in a sort of detached world constantly filtering and reformulating reality into a very insane and fatal dimension.
